Every genealogist knows that obituaries are often an important source for verifying vital statistics and other information. Although researchers have to be careful to independently verify information found in newspaper obits in order to avoid accepting the inevitable misstatements contained therein, family obituaries arguably remain one of the genealogist’s most important tool for discovering family information and traditions.
